SMART Grant combines technology and safety in Nashville

🚦 Exciting news for Nashville!

Our collaborative work with local and federal partners has reached a major milestone: the announcement of two SMART Grants totaling nearly $12 million to revolutionize transportation in the city. These grants will enable cutting-edge advancements along Murfreesboro Pike and Nolensville Pike, two of the city's busiest corridors.

The highlight? The largest national installation of LiDAR technology, a groundbreaking tool for mapping and improving safety by detecting "near-miss" incidents in real-time—without collecting any personally identifiable information. This project will not only improve safety but will also optimize bus routes, enhance traffic signals, and integrate AI-driven systems.

💡 As highlighted by Hampshire, "The rest of the country is looking to Nashville to see how this works."

Stay tuned as we continue to build safer, smarter streets, combining research, technology, and community engagement to shape the future of mobility.

Congrats to all of their hard work Dan Work, William Barbour, Matt Bunting, and Jonathan Sprinkle!
