Abstract: This seminar introduces Figma, a modern design and prototyping environment that has become a central tool for building and visualizing digital systems.

Figma is best known as a tool for designing user interfaces, but its capabilities also make it useful for exploring interactive ideas, demonstrating concepts, and building lightweight, testable prototypes.

We’ll look at how Figma can move from static design to functional prototypes, including new AI-driven features that generate interfaces and behaviors directly from natural language prompts. Through short demonstrations, we’ll explore how these capabilities can accelerate early experimentation, support documentation, and help teams align on ideas and behavior before implementation.

The discussion will also touch on current limitations, practical use cases, and how this new class of design tools might reshape the boundary between design and engineering.

The goal is to provide a grounded introduction to Figma and highlight how it can serve both as a visualization tool and as an emerging environment for rapid prototyping and exploration.
